Crystal Palace took 120 years since its foundation to win its first major championship.

Palace defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the final of the English FA Cup in the 2024-25 season at Wembley Stadium in London, the U.K. on Wednesday. Founded in 1905, Palace has won the English Championship (minor league) and League One (minor league), but has not won the major league championship. It is the first major championship trophy in 120 years since its foundation.

Palace activated a 3-4-3 formation. Dean Henderson, Maxens Lacroix, Chris Ricciaz, Mark Gehi, Tarik Mitchell, Kamada Daichi, Adam Watt, Daniel Muñoz, Ismaila Sarr, Jean-Philip Mateta and Eberechi Eze started.

City played in a 4-2-3-1 formation. Stefan Ortega, Manuel Akanji, Hoobeng Dias, Josuko Gvardiol, Nico O'Reilly, Bernardu Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Sabiu, Omar Marmucci, Jeremy Doku, and Elling Holan were among the starters.

Henderson also defended Gvardiol's shot in the 12th minute, and Akanji's shot flew over the goal in the 14th minute. Palace was only defending and scored a goal with a counterattack.

Eze scored a goal. In the 16th minute of the first half, Eze finished off Muñoz's cross from the right. Manchester City, in a hurry, beat it. Marmusi's shot was blocked. Palace rose once again in the 20th minute of the first half. Ortega defended the Sar shot. In the 28th minute of the first half, Wharton's shot failed to score.

Bernardu Silva won a penalty. Mitchell made a tackle in the 33rd minute of the first half and the referee declared a penalty. Marmusi, who was a kicker, shot, but Henderson saved.

Manchester City, with its head down, drove again. In the 43rd minute of the first half, Doku's powerful shot was blocked by Henderson. The first half ended with Palace leading 1-0.

Manchester City also scored in the second half. Doku's shot was blocked in the first minute of the second half. Doku's shot missed again in the fourth minute of the second half. Palace beat him. Marmusi's shot was again hit by the defense and went nowhere in the 30th minute of the second half.
Pep Guardiola tried to change the team. Manchester City called in Sabiu and Marmushi in the 31st minute of the second half, and Phil Foden and Claudio Echeveri in the 31st minute of the second half. Henderson defended Echeveri's shot in the 37th minute of the second half. Manchester City added Ilkay Gündogan in the 44th minute of the second half. Palace put more effort into the team's decision.

The extra time of the second half was 10 minutes. Two more minutes of extra time in the second half, Browner's shot went off the mark. Henderson defended his shot at Ezebury in the fifth minute of extra time in the second half, and won 1-0.
